MANDATORY BUILDING INSPECTION SERVICES MBIS

Stanger Asia Ltd have launched a one stop service to Building Owners, Owners Incorporations, Consultants and concerned individuals to check and monitor the condition of buildings. We can provide the full range of Mandatory Building Inspection Services MBIS required under the Buildings Ordinance. Our Registered Inspectors(RI) can carry out the inspection work and should repairs be necessary supervise such repairs and submit reports to the owners.

We have been undertaking building and structural investigation work in Hong Kong for over 25 years and our vast experience and access to the latest technology relating to building monitoring and inspection makes Stanger your first choice to inspect or monitor your building to ensure the safety of the Building, Residents and the Public. Some of the services we can provide include:

Crack Monitoring
Installation of crack monitoring devices which can be monitored remotely in either our offices or our clients offices directly using wireless technology. We have recently introduced the latest version of wireless crack monitoring on Government projects so our clients can obtain remote readings without having to physically access the locations of the cracks being monitored each time readings are required. This technology is also being used on many major projects worldwide with great success and confidence.

Infrared Thermography
Where a quick assessment of the conditions of external walls are required we can use infrared thermograph to scan the wall surfaces to determine if close to surface defects such as de-bonding or de-lamination of tiles or render are present. Our qualified operators can test all of the walls of a building in few days with actual completion times being determined by the size and access to the building. We present our findings in a clear report with standard photos, infrared scans and annotated diagrams.

Hammer Tapping
Another technique commonly used to assess the structural soundness of external walls and other areas are Hammer Tapping. This is carried out by skilled technicians with many years experience in this type of work ensuring accurate results. This gives detailed findings on de-lamination /de-bonding which is commonly carried out to determine the extent of repairs needed for external wall cladding and tiling.

Microwave Moisture Testing
Water Seepage is a major problem in Hong Kong. We have extensive experience in using Microwave Moisture detection techniques as well as complementary methods to determine the extent and source of water seepage. Accurate detection and independent reporting are particularly important where disputes over the cause and responsibility of the water seepage cannot be agreed by the adjacent property owners.

Other Structural Assessments Tests
As well as the key tests highlighted above we are able to support the above tests by a full range of other services including: corrosion monitoring using half cell testing, covermeter testing, extraction of steel to test for tensile strength and concrete coring and strength testing.

Structural Assessment
Our qualified Structural Engineers and/or Authorized Persons will make an overall assessment of the condition of the building taking into consideration all of the results obtained from our survey and any other assessment work carried out by Structural Engineers or other Specialists make recommendations on what action may be necessary to ensure building safety.
